Windsurfing: Chasewater Wind Direction: S Wind Stength: 3 Surf / Sea State: Flat Air Temperature: 15 Sea Temperature: OK Weather: Cloudy Max Speed: Distance Covered:
Seeing as I had to go to Cannock, to get my 5.5m sail repaired, I thought
what a better way to start the Bank Holiday than to meet up with an old
friend who now lives near Coventry and do a bit of surfing at Chasewater.
But while dropping my sail off at Boardwise I was told that Chasewater no
longer did day tickets. Decided to try it anyway, after had travelled all
that way and was meet a mate of mine.
Got there and although the gate was locked I could see another windsurfer
there so went and quick chat with him and explained the situation. He said
that I was best to launch for the end of the off the road as he was a
member of a University club and didnít want to be seen letting non-members
in and as it wasnít that far to carry my kit I wasnít to bothered.
Initially it was really blowing and I thought were is my 5.5m when I need
you most, alas at the menders so when my mate tuned up and said 6.3 m or go
home, that settled that.
On the first few runs the wind had dropped and it was a little like bala,
no I meant ballet on the water running up and down the board. The wind
there did seem to gust quite a lot. After a few word with my mate Rob he
convinced me that the only way forward was to get into the back strap and
after a few thumbeling attempts I made it and what a in control position it
is. After being bounced around such a lot my last time at Bala this was
control at itís utmost from now the only way is up.
Major progress made but too little surfing therefore only a 3 Star ñ maybe
it takes a lot to get me stoked or I am a little to critical.
For some odd reason the last few time out on the water Bruce Springstein
has been my theme tune but today it was Robbie Williams and Angels ñ does
any one else sail to music in their head or just me.
